So with the optional respec coming, I am moving from scout to assault. I am curious as to which Assault most players think is the best. Right now I am leaning towards Minmatar because of the increase in speed, it would be closer to the scout I am used to but with the slotting and CPU/PG of the assaults.
Beyond that, I can also see an argument for Caldari and Gallante (the latter seems easiest to fit with its low slots allowing for more flexibility when it comes to PG and CPU and the inherent bonus to PG/CPU with its spec skill).
I dont think I Amarr is up my alley, not a fan of the bonus and not a fan of the speed.
What do folks prefer and why
Another big concern of mine is hitbox. Does the hitbox vary between suits of the same class? It seemed to me the Caldari assaults look a bit bigger than Gallante. I have not really looked at the others to know for sure. |

Well coming from a scout I prefer shield tank and speed. I run with the TAR mainly, but I also enjoy scrambler rifles. I usually use the scanner and my speed as a scout to flank rather than engage in blob on blob fights. However, switching to assault will give me more flexibility to do either.
However, this thread isnt really specifically for "my build." Just want a discussion about what folks feel are the strengths and weaknesses of each. Caldari Logistics, with its 25% shield extenders and slots gallor seem like they are OP for now but Im staying away from logis as I find their hit box to be a lot easier to shoot. |

But there is no consensus as to "oh man, dont go ____, they are gimp compared to the others" correct? To me, minmatar fits my playstyle the best but I do worry they arent as flexible as the others. Gallante definitely seems most flexible. The low speed is an issue but you can throw in some kinetic cats on the low slots to help fix that a bit.
I can, for the most part, look at fitting tools and get a good grasp of what styles work with each suit. A big concern for me is honestly hit box. I enjoy the small hitbox the scout offers, and feel the big reason heavies are so rare and useless is because of how big their hit box is. Even at a distance, kick on guns dont matter against a heavy because youll still be hitting their big ole box.
Does anyone know if their are any differences in the hit boxes of the various assault frames? |

I updated the OP to include the differences between each suit. I included advanced and prototype, but not standard cause really who cares about standard?
Whats interesting is tidbits like the fact the Ammar despite having the lowest speed actually has the highest stamina. So if one wanted to boost sprint, you actually might be better of going Ammar and throwing on a couple kin cats on the low slots. Ammar also benifites most from skills since its base stats are higher. 25% increase to shield and armor, increase to CPU and PG all benefit the Amarr most. It has one less slot than the others, but this is definitely off set by its higher pg.cpu and ehp. You can save yourself almost an entire tanking slot by using it and you reduce the need for pg or cpu mods since you have the highest.
If I didnt care so much about base speed I think it would be the way to go, its definitely the most versatile.

Hmm the fitting tool gives a passive 1 armor rep to mimitar suits, can anyone confirm this? May not seem like a big deal, but to me it kinda is. I tend to get my armor widdled down over time and even 1 per second to counter that (with a massive shield buffer) would be huge. |
